Do you have a friend, neighbor, colleague, or relative who has expressed some interest in becoming a Catholic? Or have they only been baptized as a Catholic but still need to complete Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation? Maybe they just need an invitation.
Invite them to call the rectory at 914-723-0276 to join our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) sessions. These are meetings of inquiry - no pressure - just come and see what it is all about.
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a catechetical program for adults who want to become Catholic or for baptized Catholics who wish to receive Confirmation and/or First Communion. For general information about RCIA, please visit the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website: USCCB-RCIA
"Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic tradition of Eucharist and Confirmation. It is a process that includes the study of the Word of God, Catholic teaching, the acceptance of Christian values and morality, the development and deepening of a life of prayer and action with the support and involvement of the local parish community. RCIA is a process of conversion, designed to meet the unique and individual needs of the participants.
Who is RCIA for?
The Adult Faith Formation office seeks to offer programs that can reach adults at all stages of their faith journey. For some, this might mean attending a mission at their local parish. For others, it might mean academic study. Still others might be drawn to a more immersive experience like a pilgrimage.
